Fire
equipment maintenance (FEM) is a commercial operation conducted
by the Country Fire Authority and the Riddells Creek Fire Brigade.
The core business is the servicing and inspection of fire extinguishers,
fire blankets, and fire hoses in public and private enterprise.
Where the opportunity exists - extinguishers, hoses and blankets
can be sold to the public as well. The servicing of these items,
including depressurising and recharging, is done on a fee for service
basis.
By law, commercial premises are required to have
their fire equipment inspected on a six monthly basis, and the Riddells
Creek Fire Brigade currently provide this service to many local
premises.
